History of Yamunotri
According to legend, Goddess Yamuna, daughter of Surya (Sun God), grants protection from untimely death. Bathing in Yamuna waters is believed to remove fear of death.
The current temple was built by Maharani Guleria of Jaipur in the 19th century.
